I am a Professor of Musculoskeletal Physiology and Health and Dean of the School of Health and Sport Sciences at Liverpool Hope University, UK. I completed a degree in Medicine in 1995 (MD) and obtained PhD in Musculoskeletal Science (Sports Medicine) from the University of Liverpool in 2006.
As a fully registered medical practitioner, I have developed strong clinical research collaborations, primarily specialising in upper limb function and pathologies. My research aims at using EMG in combination with a diverse range of technologies to investigate muscle health and function in relation to musculoskeletal pathologies, chronic health conditions, and evidence-based rehabilitation.
I am Chair of the successful biannual Shoulder Rehabilitation Conference and a member of European Society for Shoulder and Elbow Rehabilitation (EUSSER) and a recognised research partner of the UK Sport Institute for Upper Limb Research.
Research interests:
- Integrated assessment of Musculoskeletal Function and Health using Kinematic (Motion Capture) and Kinetic (EMG, Force) techniques in: Musculoskeletal and clinical health conditions; Ageing/Sarcopenia; Sport Injuries & Rehabilitation Exercises; Upper Limb/Shoulder; Sporting Activities; Daily Activities
- Outcome measurements and Health-related quality of life in musculoskeletal and clinical conditions
- Exercise Prescription and Assessment of Function Recovery in common MSK injuries
