HOURLY PAID LECTURER

Anne originally studied at the Royal College of Music with a specialism in clarinet performance. She holds the qualifications GRSM, ARCM, PGCE and MA in Education Leadership and Management from Edge Hill University. In 2015 Anne completed an Educational Doctorate at Liverpool Hope University. Her Doctoral research focused on subject knowledge for primary school teachers and how non-specialists can be trained to teach music. Music education continues to be her my main area of expertise and she is  also interested in community music making.

 Anne conducts regularly and also plays the clarinet in the orchestra of the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral. As a performer, she has been active in orchestras for many years and also has expertise in chamber music and big band repertoire.

School and subject area rolesIn 2018 Anne became Assistant Head of Music in the School of Performing and Creative Arts. She also coordinates the Music Foundation Course and takes a lead role in musical performance across the university. She remains committed to teacher education and continues to lead the PGCE Secondary Music teacher training course.

Service of Learned SocietiesAnne is a member MusicHE and is on the committee of the British Association of Symphonic Bands and Wind Ensembles. She also sits on the board of the SKY (Sefton and Knowsley) Music Hub.
