Cathal O'Siochru is a senior lecturer in
Education Studies at Liverpool Hope University. He has a background in
Psychology, Research Methods, Education and IT. His field of research is the
psychology of education and he specializes in looking at the impact of beliefs, values and perceptions on education and learning. Other research
interests include Epistemological and Pedagogical beliefs, Pedagogical Action
Research, Assessment practices and feedback as well as IT and learning.
My field of research is educational psychology although I am interested in anything related to learning and teaching. I specialize in looking at the developing and impact of beliefs, values and perceptions in wide range of learning contexts. I have a particular interest in factors which can influence the studies of university students. This includes personal epistemological beliefs, approaches to learning, self-efficacy, age, perceptions about feedback and chosen subject. I am also interested in the effective use of assessments and providing assessment feedback. I have a wide range of knowledge in relation to quantitative research methodologies. I have a good depth of knowledge in the areas of statistical analysis and questionnaire design.
