HONORARY RESEARCH FELLOW

From 2003 until my retirement in 2010, I was Dean of Arts and Humanities at Liverpool Hope. Since my retirement, I have continued with my research in the areas of Irish literature and conflict literature, in particular the literature of the First World War. I continue to teach in the area of early twentieth-century Irish literature and offer dissertation supervision in this area. I am a member of the steering committee of the Archbishop Desmond Tutu Centre for War and Peace Studies. In 2018 I  co-edited a Journal of War and Culture Studies special issue 'Arts and Artefacts: Memory and Guilt in Twentieth-century Europe', the outcome of a symposium held by the Centre.
My book, Irish Literature and the First World War: Culture Identity and Memory was published in December 2015.
