I joined the Faculty of Education at Liverpool Hope University in 2004, bringing with me a long and varied career in education, health, social services and the voluntary sector. My research interests lie within the field of Disability Studies in Education, with a particular focus on children described as having profound and multiple learning difficulties, children with Down syndrome and students and staff who identify as 'mad' in higher education.  My research is affiliated with the Faculty's Research Centre for Culture and Disability Studies.

I have a number of teaching responsibilities including being Head of First Year for the BA 'SEN' major.  I am Assessment Coordinator for the Faculty of Education and a Faculty Senior Academic Adviser.  In addition, I have won a number of prizes for innovation in Learning and Teaching and enjoy developing new curriculum.
